Puma is heading to Manhattan once again. The German sportswear company has secured a lease at 609 Fifth Avenue in the SL Green Realty building to open a new three-level retail flagship.

Located on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 49th Street opposite Saks Fifth Avenue, the 24,000-square-foot retail lease will feature state-of-the-art double-height storefronts across 160 feet of wraparound frontage.

“For the past several years Puma has been focused on becoming the fastest sports brand in the world and we feel now is the perfect time to show the world who we are. We are very pleased to begin our partnership with SL Green at 609 Fifth Avenue, and we are going to build an engaging brand experience that we will all be very proud of” said Bjørn Gulden, CEO of Puma, in a news statement.

The store will take up a portion of the ground floor and the basement, and the entire second floor. It is expected to open mid-2019.

SL Green has recently renovated the building, which included a relocation of the existing office lobby from Fifth Avenue to 49th Street.

Puma has previously held stores in Manhattan including at 421 West 14th Street, 33 Union Square West and 521 Broadway, which are now all closed.
