Maison Valentino Brings an Exclusive Italian Cinematic Experience to Abu Dhabi
The four-day event showcases Federico Fellini’s iconic films, such as Roma and La Dolce Vita.
For creative director Alessandro Michele’s first campaign for Valentino we expected a debut that would be nothing short of theatrical, and this is precisely what he delivered with Avant Les Débuts, inspired by Federico Fellini’s 1972 film, Roma.
Maison Valentino brings this cinematic spirit and deeply-rooted appreciation for Italian filmmaking to Abu Dhabi through an exclusive experience celebrating the city of Rome. From January 13-16, guests can view Fellini’s most memorable films at 421 Arts Campus, located in the capital’s Mina Zayed district.
On January 13th and 14th, Roma was shown on screen. On the 15th, the Maison will showcase Fellini’s 1960 thriller La Dolce Vita, and on the 16th, it will play his 1963 comedy drama 8 ½ .
The four-day event is a partnership between the Maison and Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). “By merging luxury fashion, arts, and the emirate’s rich cultural heritage, this event celebrates how Abu Dhabi is redefining elegance in the Arab world through a seamless blend of tradition and innovation, reaffirming its position as a global destination for world-class experiences,” says Noura Al Foulathi, head of Abu Dhabi Retail at ADIO.
The Valentino cinema was inaugurated by a panel discussion moderated by Butheina Kazim, founder of Cinema Akil, which is located in Alserkal Avenue and at 25 Hours Hotel in Dubai. She spoke to Emirati filmmaker Abdulla Al Kaabi, who directed the global campaign for Expo 2020, creative producer Sarah Alhashimi and Omani multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker Chndy, about the significance of Fellini’s Roma and the cultural impact of movies – from European productions to regional projects.
“The Valentino Cinema is a beautiful step into highlighting Khaleeji cinema, and it was an opportunity to explore what it means to be a filmmaker in the region,” Chndy tells Vogue Arabia. “We look forward to continuing to bridge the gap between fashion and film, by remembering the great classics of the past, and looking to create even more masterpieces in the future.”
