Starbucks Launches Princi Bakery Concept

Seattle-based coffee giant Starbucks has launched its first standalone location of its artisanal baking concept Princi. Located on Westlake Avenue in its hometown, the Italian-style bakery serves a lineup of breakfast and lunch items, as well as a Starbucks coffee blend. The Seattle Times reports that cocktails, beer and wine will also be served on-site as part of ongoing efforts to drive more traffic in the afternoons and evenings.

The launch of Princi comes as part of Starbucks’ acquisition of Bakery chain La Boulange in 2013 for $100 million. Prior to his exit from the company, former Starbucks head Howard Schultz forecasted a rollout of more than 1,000 standalone Princi bakeries, as well as roughly 1,000 Reserve stores.
