Target and Shipt make same-day delivery easier

With the holidays fast approaching, Target announced that same-day delivery shopped by Shipt is now available on the Target app with no membership required. The new service allows customers to receive their purchases in as soon as one hour with just a few taps on their smartphone.

To promote the service, Minneapolis-based Target is offering free same-day delivery from now on orders of $75 or more when they use the Target app or shop Target.com.

“Millions of guests love using the Target app to shop, save and get what they need quickly — and it’s a game-changer during the busy holiday season,” said Dawn Block, senior vice president, digital, Target. “Adding same-day delivery to our app is another way we’re making it easier and faster for guests to get the same great value, curated products and top-notch guest service they’ve come to expect from Target, all while placing an order online or directly from their phone.”

Target customers can now get 65,000 items — including groceries, essentials, toys, baby-care products, kitchenware and more — personally shopped by Shipt Shoppers and delivered to their door through same-day delivery on the Target app (available for both iOS and Android users). In addition, same-day delivery orders can still be placed directly on Target.com through the dedicated shopping experience announced earlier this year.

Shoppers can also get same-day delivery at any time of year by becoming a Shipt member or by paying a $9.99 delivery fee per order. Target is currently offering guests who have not yet signed up for a Shipt membership a free four-week trial to experience the service.

Since announcing the $550 million acquisition of Shipt in December 2017, Target has expanded the on-demand service to 47 states, including its own stores and other food, drug and mass retailers. Shipt same-day delivery is currently available through more than 1,500 Target stores in over 250 markets.
