Next and Tesco partner for store-in-store trial

Next has become the latest retailer to trial a store-in-store concept at the UK’s largest grocer Tesco.

Earlier this week Next opened a 4300sq ft concession inside Tesco Extra in Surrey Quays stocking a basic range of both menswear and womenswear.

They want to offer their customers the best possible choice and convenience.

Next is the latest retailer to work with Tesco on a store-in-store model, following Dixons Carphone, Arcadia and Holland & Barrett.

The move could be seen as a response to its largest rival Sainsbury’s, which has begun to roll out Argos and Habitat store-in-stores across the country since its acquisition of Home Retail Group last year.

With business rates on the increase and grocers already absorbing rising import costs in attempts stem food price inflation, many retailers are making efforts to utilize excess floor space by renting to other companies.
