Walgreens Launches 24-Hour, Seven Days A Week Same Day Delivery Service

Walgreens has expanded their offerings to include same day delivery 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The round-the-clock service allows shoppers to place orders in the Walgreens app and receive their items in as little as one hour, the pharmacy chain says.

The service will offer shoppers at nearly 400 participating U.S. stores access to over 27,000 products. Customers can use the app to find their nearest store and opt for delivery if their address is within the correct range. Currently, the new delivery service is not available in Alaska, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia or Wyoming.

“Walgreens knows that taking care of health and wellbeing isn’t exclusive to business hours and that needs can pop up at any time of day – that’s why we’re always looking for ways to enhance the customer experience with convenient and trusted solutions,” said Stefanie Kruse, group vice president of digital commerce at Walgreens. “As the place customers turn to for their last-minute needs, we know they will find value in being able to access the items they need most, no matter the hour, right to their door.”

The move comes at a time of change and expansion for Walgreens as the company plows ahead with plans to provide as convenient an experience as possible to customers. Beginning in May 2021, the pharmacist launched a service offering curbside and via drive-thru and Same Day Delivery in as little as an hour.

In June 2021, Walgreens also expanded its collaboration with Uber to offer products directly through the on-demand delivery UberEats platform. At the time, the goal was to eventually grow the service to include the entire product roster of over 20,000 products. In select markets, the retailer is also piloting a 30-Minute Pickup Guarantee that promises to cover shoppers’ purchases if their order is not ready for pickup within 30 minutes.

In May 2022, Walgreens also announced a series of key changes among their core leadership, tapping Linh Peters as senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Luke Rauch as senior vice president and chief merchandising officer and Bala Visalatha as senior vice president and chief product officer.
