The new store showcases both the Intimissimi range and a selection of items by Calzedonia. “We have never been so pushed into entering a market before being really ready for it,” said Sandro Veronesi, the founder and President of the Calzedonia group. “We are convinced it is time for us to establish a high-profile presence in the USA. The location is perfect and we are ready to do great things,” he added.

Besides a first presence on the mythical Fifth Avenue, the Italian label in fact is planning to open about 20 monobrand stores on the East Coast by the end of 2018, before moving on to the West Coast.

Last year, the Calzedonia group celebrated its 30th anniversary, and also owns the Tezenis, Signorvino, Atelier Emé and Falconeri brands, operating 4,000 stores worldwide, of which 2,400 outside Italy. The group has 32,000 employees and closed the 2016 fiscal year with a revenue of €2.128 billion (+5.4% over 2015), half of which was generated outside the Italian domestic market.
