New York’s Meatpacking District is having a major resurgence. The latest luxury brand to join the boom? Gucci. A neighborhood rooted in history as a former industrial hub has now transformed into an incredibly trendy, vibrant neighborhood, making it the perfect new home for the House of Gucci. As a result, the streets have been reinvigorated with Manhattan’s electrifying energy, setting the stage for Gucci’s opening this week.

Bringing the charm of Florence to the iconic Manhattan neighborhood, the new boutique is the quintessential fusion of two cities that have played an integral role in Gucci’s history. Designed as a concept space, the boutique boasts a 1970s-inspired aesthetic, brought to life through a functionalist and modular approach to décor emboldened by pop colors, mirrored surfaces, and vintage mid-century furniture, spanning across two floors and over 9,000 square feet. Situated on the cozy corner of W 14th Street and 9th, the boutique will carry a dynamic range of men’s and women’s collections of shoes, handbags, luggage, ready-to-wear, and Gucci Beauty.

Upon entering, guests are immediately immersed into the wonderful world of Gucci with a grid-patterned metal mesh ceiling embodying the industrial character of the Meatpacking District, complemented by painted cement flooring inspired by historic Florentine marble motifs. Sustainability is woven throughout the entire design, from the store’s furnishings being restored second-hand pieces to environmentally friendly fabrics and materials like Demetra being used throughout the store’s walls and in the booths. The floors also feature Silipol, an innovative cement composed of natural elements and 100% recyclable, and the location is LEED-certified, using 100% renewable energy and LED lighting.

Making Gucci’s commitment to adopting greener choices in this retail space even more special, Gucci Meatpacking will include an exclusive physical presence of Vault’s Gucci Continuum — the initiative that perpetuates the life of past Gucci pieces and deadstock fabrics by inviting brands, artists, and makers to incorporate them into their own future designs, thereby reducing waste and encouraging circularity through the harmonious relationship between creativity and conscious production.

Gucci’s new Meatpacking Boutique embodies the rich history and eclectic design that both the House and neighborhood share.
