Bed Bath & Beyond Expands Same-Day Delivery With DoorDash

Home goods chain Bed Bath & Beyond is the latest retailer to partner with delivery platform DoorDash to provide same-day delivery for online orders from the retailer itself and its subsidiary, Buybuy Baby.

Top line

DoorDash will deliver through DoorDash Drive, its “white-label fulfillment platform.” The partnership expands same-day delivery to “nearly all store locations” in the U.S., the retailer said in a statement.

Bed Bath & Beyond currently has about 1,000 stores throughout North America, while Buybuy Baby has about 140 U.S. locations.

Between the lines

To use the service, customers place orders via the store websites and select the Same-Day Delivery option at checkout. According to the announcement, customers will now be able to place an order “just hours before closing” and still receive same-day delivery.

“What’s also exciting about this partnership is that we are extending order cutoff times from 1 p.m. to up to 6 p.m. local time … and customers can receive real-time updates on their order status via text,” said Rafeh Masood, evp and chief digital officer at Bed Bath & Beyond, in a statement.

Bottom line

Bed Bath & Beyond also has delivery partnerships with Shipt and Instacart.

For its part, DoorDash, which is best known as a restaurant delivery service, also provides delivery for retailers like CVS, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Petco and Sam’s Club.
